STEVENS POINT – Jenna Jones scored on a power pay with 3:50 to go to lift the Wisconsin Valley Union girls hockey team to a 2-1 win over Brookfield in an Eastern Shores Conference game Saturday at Ice Hawks Arena.
The game was scoreless through two periods before Brookfield (12-10, 2-5 ESC) took the lead as Everlyn Groneck scored 1:24 in.
Jai Dee Menge countered for the Eagles (7-12, 2-5 ESC) to tie it before Jones knocked in what proved to be the game-winner as time was running down.
Issie Wojcik finished with 21 saves for Wisconsin Valley.
Wisconsin Valley Union will be back in action Tuesday, Feb. 11, at Wisconsin Rapids against Northland Pines.
