WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Marshfield won two events, set two new school records and placed second at the 2025 Wisconsin Valley Conference Boys Swim Meet on Thursday at Lincoln High School.
Stevens Point won its sixth-straight conference title, finishing with 430 points, with Marshfield second with 324. Combined with the dual meet season, Marshfield also placed second behind Stevens Point, the Tigers’ highest finish since taking second in 2022.
Marshfield’s relay team of Simon Dagit, Zach Kayhart, Carson Klumb and Kevin Buth won the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:30.76 and placed third in the 400-yard freestyle relay in 3:27.68, setting new program records in each event. The 200 relay mark was set last year, with Dagit, Buth and Klumb part of that as well, while the 400 record broke a mark set in 1987.
Marshfield’s other win came from Dagit in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 53.21 seconds.
Dagit also took second in the 50 freestyle (22.36), Klumb placed third in the 200 freestyle (1:56.25) and the 100 freestyle (52.07), and Kayhart was third in the 100 backstroke (1:02.32) for the Tigers.
Four WVC Meet records were set by a pair of D.C. Everest swimmers. Keaton Barwick won the 50 freestyle in 20.59 and the 100 freestyle in 45.31, and Will Van Ermen won the 200 individual medley in 1:57.06 and the 100 backstroke in 51.42, breaking conference records in each event.
Marshfield will compete at a WIAA Division 1 sectional at Hudson Middle School with diving taking place Friday, Feb. 14, and swimming on Saturday, Feb. 15. Winners of each event and the next 18 best times statewide among all the sectionals qualify for the 2025 WIAA State Boys Swimming & Diving Championships at Waukesha South High School on Feb. 22.
