MARSHFIELD – Brett Baur scored a pair of goals for Marshfield, but the Tigers couldn’t overcome a four-goal second period by Wisconsin Rapids, losing the Wisconsin Valley Conference boys hockey game Thursday 7-2 at the Marshfield Youth Ice Recreation Center.
Rapids took a 1-0 lead into the second period and outscored the Tigers 4-1 to grab a 5-1 lead. The Raiders (9-9, 5-5 WVC) added two more goals in the third period against Marshfield goalie David Kluball, who had 22 saves.
Adam Edwards and Tim Holck each had a hat trick and Cal Lloyd added the other goal for Wisconsin Rapids. Jake Bord and Casey Nelson each had two assists for the Raiders.
Marshfield falls to 7-13 overall and 3-6 in the Valley, and returns to action next Thursday at Stevens Point. The Tigers’ final home game is Feb. 9 against Wausau West, the No. 1-ranked team in the state by wisconsinprephockey.net.
