WESTFIELD – The Marshfield girls basketball team had its seven-game winning streak snapped with a 59-50 nonconference loss to Westfield on Friday night at Westfield Pioneer High School.
The Tigers (11-9) trailed by one point at halftime before Westfield, the No. 8-ranked team in this week’s Wissports.net Division 4 state coaches poll, pulled away with a 31-23 advantage over the final 18 minutes.
Zaida Kolbeck finished with 23 points to lead Marshfield before fouling out late.
Haddie Showen poured in a game-high 33 points, making all four of her 3-point attempts, to top Westfield (17-3).
Marshfield will play at Stevens Point on Tuesday with first place in the Wisconsin Valley Conference on the line. Stevens Point (9-0) leads the Tigers (7-1) by 1½ games in the conference standings.
