WAUSAU – Marshfield won three titles and had five others place in the top three as the Tigers took second place at the 2025 Wisconsin Valley Conference Wrestling Tournament on Saturday at Wausau East High School.
Wisconsin Rapids won its second-straight WVC championship and six individual titles to end up with 220.5 points. Marshfield was the runner-up with 178 points.
Grayden Rode won the 157-pound final over Carson Kempf of D.C. Everest 4-3 in an ultimate tiebreaker, Haiden Carlson took the 165-pound title with a 5-4 victory over D.C. Everest’s Gavin Madson, and Caleb Dennee won at 175, pinning Stevens Point’s Kyle Medina in the first period for the Tigers’ three individual titles.
Easton Ledden placed second at 144 pounds, and Joe Gianneschi (132), Joshuah Taylor (190), Grant Allar (215) and Brok Carolfi (285) each finished third for Marshfield.
Marshfield will compete at a WIAA Division 1 regional at Holmen on Saturday, Feb. 15. The top four finishers in each weight class move on to a D-1 sectional at Eau Claire North on Feb. 22.
