Stevens Point uses dominant first half to win WVC girls basketball showdown over Marshfield

STEVENS POINT – Stevens Point rolled out to a 24-point lead by halftime and defeated Marshfield 67-46 on Tuesday night at Stevens Point Area Senior High, clinching at least a tie of the Wisconsin Valley Conference girls basketball championship.

The Panthers (16-4, 10-0 Wisconsin Valley Conference) led 35-11 at halftime and Marshfield could not mount enough of a comeback, falling by 19 and losing its second game in a row.

Hailey Klumb finished with 12 points and eight rebounds, and McKenzie Holm and Emma Ridgway each scored 10 for Marshfield (11-10, 7-2 WVC).

Jada Seubert scored 30 points, making all 14 of her free throw attempts, and Lindsey Weiler had 14 points and nine rebounds for Stevens Point.

Marshfield travels to Kaukauna on Tuesday before hosting Wausau West in its home finale on Friday.
