WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Wisconsin Valley Union girls hockey team scored four times in the first period and went on to a 9-4 win over Northland Pines in a nonconference game matchup Tuesday at the South Wood County Recreation Center.

Reese Simcakowski had two goals and an assist for WVU, which is now 10-13 this season.

Wisconsin Valley outshot Northland Pines 42-13 en rout to the victory. The two teams will meet again in a WIAA regional final at Stevens Point on Feb. 20.

Wisconsin Valley Union will finish its regular-season schedule at Stoughton.
