Marshfield boys hockey edges Waupaca in regular-season finale

MARSHFIELD – Wyatt Fischer scored with 3:43 remaining in regulation to give the Marshfield boys hockey team to a 2-1 nonconference win over Waupaca in its regular-season finale Thursday at the Marshfield Ice Arena.

After a scoreless first period, Joey Cashmer scored 1:15 into the second to give Marshfield a 1-0 lead.

Waupaca tied the game less than one minute later and the 1-1 score held until late in the third when Fischer knocked in the game-winner for the Tigers (8-16).

Rahul Dissanayake had 12 saves in goal for Marshfield.

Marshfield will open postseason play with a WIAA Division 1 regional semifinal at Hudson on Tuesday.
