Marshfield wraps up fourth-straight Wisconsin Valley Conference boys basketball title with win at Stevens Point

STEVENS POINT – The Marshfield boys basketball team clinched its fourth-straight Wisconsin Valey Conference championship, using a dominating second half to pull away for a 74-54 win over Stevens Point on Thursday at Stevens Point Area Senior High School.

The Tigers are now 13-5 overall and 9-0 in the WVC after winning their fifth-straight game and for the ninth time in their last 10.

Stevens Point’s loss to Marshfield, combined with Wausau West losing to Wausau East on Thursday, clinches the outright conference title for the Tigers, who have now won 23-straight Wisconsin Valley Conference contests.

Marshfield led 33-30 at halftime before running away over the final 18 minutes, outscoring Stevens Point 41-24.

Landon Lee poured in 26 points and dished out six assists, while Valin Ramberg chipped in 16 points and Brooks Hinson 15 in the victory for Marshfield.

The Tigers shot a solid 54 percent from the field (28-for-51), making seven 3-pointers and 11 of 14 free throws.

Jayden Aue led SPASH (13-8, 6-4 WVC) with 17 points.

Marshfield will play a nonconference game at Chippewa Falls on Saturday at 7:15 p.m.
