MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield boys basketball team overcame a sluggish start and went on to win its eighth game in a row with a 53-33 victory over Merrill in Wisconsin Valley Conference action Friday at Marshfield High School.
The Tigers trailed 17-16 at halftime before erupting to a 21-point advantage in the second half to pull away on Senior Night.
Brooks Hinson scored 12 points, and Joey Ketterer and Valin Ramberg each added 11 for Marshfield, which improves to 16-5 overall and 11-0 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference.
Merrill falls to 10-12 overall and 2-9 in conference play.
Marshfield will host Eau Claire Memorial (17-3) for a big nonconference game Saturday at 6 p.m.
