EAU CLAIRE – Four Marshfield wrestlers are heading to state after earning top-two finishes at a WIAA Division 1 individual wrestling sectional Saturday at Eau Claire North High School.
Grayden Rode (35-9) won the 157-pound title and Caleb Dennee (47-2) took the 175-pound championship for the Tigers.
The top two finishers in each of the 14 weight classes at the sectional qualify for the 2025 WIAA State Individual Wrestling Tournament, which will be held Thursday, Feb. 27, through Saturday, March 1, at the Kohl Center in Madison.
Jon Sternweis (26-5) and Brok Carolfi (25-17) both placed second for the Tigers, at 126 and 285 pounds, respectively.
Rode, a senior, defeated Luke Pember of Menomonie 10-5 to win at 157, and Dennee won the 175-pound final by medical forfeit over Jacob Anderson of Menomonie.
Carolfi dropped the 285-pound final to Bryce Shepard of Menomonie 4-3, while Sternweis needed a second-place wrestleback to secure his state meet berth. Sternweis won the third-place match at 126 10-5 over Jackson Roesler of West Salem/Bangor, then beat Turner Campbell of Holmen 20-8 in a wrestleback.
Carter Williquette (113) and Haiden Carlson (165) both placed third for Marshfield.
