Columbus Catholic girls basketball slams Tri-County in WIAA Division 5 regional quarterfinal

MARSHFIELD – Ten different Columbus Catholic players scored as the Dons dominated from the opening tip, blowing out Tri-County 53-8 in a WIAA Division 5 girls basketball regional quarterfinal on Tuesday at Columbus Catholic High School.

The Dons held Tri-County (5-17) to just two made baskets in the entire game, while forcing 27 turnovers.

Columbus Catholic led 33-2 after a lopsided first half and had little trouble finishing off the victory.

Katelyn Casperson scored 16 points, making three 3-pointers, and Maddie Bernick added nine points and five rebounds for the Dons.

No. 6 seed Columbus Catholic (16-9) moves on to a D-5 regional semifinal at No. 3 seed Pittsville on Friday at 7 p.m.
