WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Stratford boys basketball team are Marawood Conference South Division champions after posting a 68-51 win over Wisconsin Rapids Assumption on Thursday at Assumption High School.
Combined with Auburndale’s loss to Marathon, Stratford captures the sole conference championship with the victory, its 11th in a row.
Riley Spindler scored 13 points to lead a balanced scoring attack for the Tigers (22-2, 14-2 Marawood South).
Jett Schoenherr knocked in 12 points on a perfect 6-for-6 shooting, Caleb Wrensch added 11 points, and Drew Bruesewitz had 11 points and six assists for Stratford. Brooks Vanderhoof also finished with nine points and 11 assists in the victory.
Stratford will open WIAA postseason play with a Division 4 regional semifinal at home on March 7 against the winner of Tuesday’s game between Edgar and Abbotsford.
