MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield Columbus Catholic boys basketball team will play for a regional title after downing Wisconsin Rapids Assumption 60-43 in a WIAA Division 5 regional semifinal Friday night at Columbus Catholic High School.
The No. 2 seeded Dons (17-8) will host No. 3 seed Alma Center Lincoln (20-6) in a D-5 regional final Saturday night at 7 p.m. with the winner moving on to next week’s sectionals.
The Dons led 31-22 at halftime and outscored Assumption by eight in the second half to finish off the win.
Mac Konieczny, recently named the Cloverbelt Conference East Division Player of the Year, led Columbus Catholic with 21 points and Carter Sommer added 15 in the victory for the Dons.
J.T. Schlaefer led Assumption (10-16) with 12 points.
