Hurley surges past Spencer in WIAA Division 4 boys basketball regional semifinal

HURLEY – The No. 6 seed Spencer had No. 3 Hurley on the ropes, but a huge second half push led the Northstars to a 75-65 win in a WIAA Division 4 boys basketball regional semifinal Friday at Hurley High School.

Spencer led 36-27 at the halftime break but Hurley (21-4) exploded for 48 points in the second half to pull away.

Sam Bezlyk scored a career-high 39 points, going 14-for-19 at the free throw line, and pulled down seven rebounds to lead the way for Spencer, which finishes the season with a 15-11 record.

Logan Schilling had 30 points and 13 rebounds for Hurley.

Hurley moves on to a D-4 regional final at Stratford (23-2) on Saturday at 7 p.m.
