Stratford softball roughs up Clinton at Rhinelander tournament opener

RHINELANDER – The Stratford softball opened its season with a dominant 12-4 win over Clinton in the first round of the Danny Mac Tournament at the Hodag Dome on Friday.

The Tigers move on to a semifinal in the Bracket 2 tournament against Wautoma at 9 a.m. Saturday. Stratford will either play for the bracket title or third place at 12:30 p.m.

Stratford scored 11 runs over the first three innings of its season, including a five-run second inning.

Laney Pankratz picked up the pitching win, allowing six hits and three walks, while striking out 12 for the Tigers. She also went 3-for-4 with four RBI in the victory.

Tri Tubbs hit a two-run home run, and Carly Pankratz and Gracie Krummel each added a pair of hits for the Tigers.
