RHINELANDER – The Stratford softball team hit its way to the Bracket 2 title at the Danny Mac Tournament on Saturday, putting up 21 runs and 25 hits in two victories.
Stratford rolled to a 10-4 win over Wautoma and hammered Shawano 11-2 to take the bracket championship.
The Tigers racked up 33 runs and 37 hits overall in the three-game tournament.
In the win over Wautoma, the Tigers (3-0) had 15 hits, including three from Laney Pankratz, and two each by Carly Pankratz, Emma Roeper, Gracie Schmidt and Madelynn Kroening. Schmidt and Roeper each drove in three runs.
Tria Tubbs earned the pitching win, striking out eight with only one walk in a seven-inning effort.
In the title game against Shawano, the Tigers scored five times in the opening inning, and held a 5-1 lead into the seventh when they scored six more times to ice the tournament title.
Laney Pankratz went 3-for-3 for Stratford in the win and finished the tournament 9-for-11 from the plate. She also picked up the win in the circle, striking out five with five walks.
Tubbs added three hits, and Schmidt drove in three more for Stratford.
Stratford is scheduled to play a nonconference game at Blair-Taylor on Tuesday.
