AUBURNDALE – The Auburndale boys basketball team won for the fourth straight time, and for the third time in four nights, dominating Northland Lutheran 43-29 in a Marawood Conference South Division game Thursday at Auburndale High School.
The win pushes the Apaches’ record to 10-5 overall and 6-3 in the Marawood South, holding on to their tie for third place in the standings with Edgar. Auburndale plays at Edgar on Tuesday.
Northland Lutheran falls to 4-9 and 2-7 in conference play.
Garrett Nikolay scored 15 points and added six rebounds and six steals for the Apaches. C.J. Castellano added eight points and four steals, and Tyler Pankratz scored seven points and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds for Auburndale.
Matt Klieforth had 10 points to lead the Wildcats.
Auburndale put the game away after a tight first half. Leading 17-16 at the break, the Apaches outscored Northland Lutheran 20-4 in the third quarter.
