WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Three Edgar pitchers held Marshfield Columbus Catholic to just three hits and defeated the Dons 12-6 in the season-opener for both baseball teams on Tuesday at Lincoln High School.

Edgar pulled ahead 5-2 with a three-run fifth inning before breaking the game open with a seven-run sixth.

The Dons responded with four runs in the bottom of the sixth but that would be all they could muster.

Ray Becker and Carter Sommer each had two RBI for the Dons.

Columbus Catholic will be back in action Friday and Saturday at Woodside Sports Complex in Mauston. The Dons will play Flambeau and Boyceville on Friday, and Montello on Saturday.
