STRATFORD – Derek Austin scored 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds but the Stratford boys basketball team came up just short, losing 44-37 to Edgar in a Marawood Conference South Division boys basketball game Friday night at Stratford High School.
The two teams were tied 18-18 at halftime before the Wildcats pulled away with a 12-5 advantage in the third quarter. Each team scored 14 points in the fourth as Stratford couldn’t complete a comeback.
Reed Lehman led Edgar (6-10, 5-6 Marawood South) with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Stratford (8-8, 4-7 Marawood South) was just 3 of 17 from 3-point range in the loss.
The Tigers will play at the Bradley Center on Saturday afternoon against D.C. Everest before returning to Marawood South action next Thursday at Wausau Newman Catholic.
