MARSHFIELD – Lydia Garvin and Rhyan Costa each drove in a pair of runs as the Marshfield softball team topped Chippewa Falls 6-2 in a nonconference game Thursday at Madison Field for its home opener.
The Tigers scored twice in the opening inning on Costa’s two-run double, added two more in the fifth as Garvin knocked in two with a triple, and put the game away with a two-run sixth on RBI singles by Kamryn Pearce and Delaney Varsho. Varsho had three hits for Marshfield.
Molly Fox picked up the pitching win, striking out four in five innings. Angela Barnhardt allowed one run in two innings to finish off the victory for the Tigers (3-1).
Marshfield will play Antigo and Lakeland at D.C. Everest on Friday.
