WESTON – The Marshfield softball team split a pair of close games at the Greenheck Turner Community Center at D.C. Everest High School on Friday.
The Tigers outlasted Antigo 5-2 before falling to Lakeland 3-2 in eight innings, moving their season record to 4-2.
Rhyan Costa had two doubles and scored twice, and Laila Oppman drove in a pair of runs for Marshfield in the win over Antigo.
Angela Barnhardt earned the victory in the circle, striking out five and allowing just three hits in a complete-game effort.
University of Arkansas recruit Saylor Timmerman struck out 15 Tigers for Lakeland in the extra-inning win.
Marshfield hung in the game with two runs in the top of the sixth inning, tying the contest, but could not muster another run. Lakeland won it in the eighth.
Molly Fox suffered the loss, giving up five hits and three runs with seven strikeouts for the Tigers.
Marshfield will be back in action Thursday for its Wisconsin Valley Conference opener at Merrill.
