Columbus Catholic softball rips Gibraltar to open 2025 season

MAUSTON – The Columbus Catholic softball team opened its 2025 campaign with a huge offensive performance as it rolled past Gibraltar 16-6 in a nonconference game Friday at Woodside Sports Complex.

The Dons smacked 13 hits, Shelby Spata hit a pair of home runs and drove in three, and an 11-run third inning help them roll to the five-inning victory.

Abby Wojcik picked up the pitching win, striking out five in 4 2/3 innings. She also added two hits and scored twice.

Ciena Adler and Spata each had three hits, and Aubrey Lambrecht had a triple and drove in three in the win for Columbus Catholic.

The Dons will play Florence at 2 p.m. and Cumberland at 4 p.m. at Mauston on Saturday.
