WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Spencer baseball team opened its 2025 campaign with a nonconference doubleheader sweep of Wisconsin Rapids Assumption on Saturday at Lincoln High School.
The Rockets won 16-4 in five innings in the opener, then came back from a three-run deficit to win Game 2 9-6.
In the opener, Tyler Peterson picked up the pitching win and knocked in two runs for the Rockets.
Jackson Manicke added three hits and two RBI for Spencer.
In Game 2, Assumption led 4-1 after 5½ innings before the Rockets exploded for an eight-run sixth inning to pull in front.
Peterson had a triple and three more RBI, and Dalton Post drove in a pair of runs for Spencer.
Spencer will host Athens for its home opener on Monday at 4:45 p.m.
