Wausau East rallies to defeat Stratford baseball

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Wausau East overcame a four-run deficit to defeat Stratford 6-4 in a nonconference baseball game Tuesday at Lincoln High School.

The Tigers used a four-run third inning. Brady Berg had a single to drive in two runs and another scored on an error. Berg later scored on a balk, giving Stratford a 4-0 lead.

Wausau East scored once in the fourth inning on a sacrifice fly by Baumann before erupting for four runs in the bottom of the fifth. Jed VanderSanden had the key hit, driving in two with a double.

VanderSanden tossed two scoreless innings to save the win for East starter Ryan Rodemeier, who struck out six in five innings.

Berg threw four innings, giving up one run for Stratford with five strikeouts.

Stratford will host Athens on Friday at 4:45 p.m.
