MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield girls soccer team could not get its offense going and dropped a 4-0 decision to Appleton North in a nonconference game Tuesday at Heiting Community Stadium at Marshfield High School.

North set the tone with a high-paced attack and broke through at the 29:47 mark on a goal by Emily Apostolou.

The Lightning tacked on another goal nine minutes later from Addison Schneider and took a 2-0 lead into halftime.

Marshfield put together a tough defensive front, holding Appleton North (3-0) down for the first 30 minutes of the second half, but the Lightning was able to add a pair of scores – from Brinley Dunsim and Claire Zulewski – in a three-minute stretch to put the game out of reach.

Payton Bremer finished with 13 saves in goal for the Tigers (1-3).

Marshfield will play Green Bay Notre Dame on Friday and Hudson on Saturday at the D.C. Everest Greenheck Turner Community Center.
