HOLMEN – The Marshfield softball team pounded out 35 hits and scored 33 runs in a doubleheader sweep of Holmen, winning 18-4 and 15-5 on Friday at Viking Elementary School.
The Tigers scored 17 runs in the final four innings of the opener, knocking out 17 hits.
Lillian Griesbach had three hits, including a home run, and drove in five, and Madison Kraus had two hits and four RBI as part of the onslaught for Marshfield.
Molly Fox went the distance in the circle for the Tigers, striking out 10.
In Game 2, Angela Barnhardt had a complete-game victory for Marshfield.
With the game tied at 3-3 after 1½ innings, Marshfield scored seven times in the second inning and were able to go on to the win in five innings due to the 10-run rule.
The hit parade continued for the Tigers as they finished with 18, including four by Kraus and three from Madilynn Cole. Kraus finished the twinbill 6-for-8 with five runs scored and seven RBI as she knocked in three in the second game.
Taylar Weis added four RBI and Lydia Garvin drove in three for the Tigers in Game 2.
Marshfield’s next game is Tuesday at Wisconsin Rapids.
