Spencer baseball slugs past Columbus Catholic

MARSHFIELD – Tyler Peterson allowed two runs over six innings and had four hits at the plate to lead the Spencer baseball team to an 8-2 win over Marshfield Columbus Catholic in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division game Monday at Jack Hackman Field.

The Rockets scored multiple runs in three different innings and stayed undefeated on the young season, improving to 5-0 overall and 2-0 in the Cloverbelt East.

Peterson finished with five strikeouts and three walks to earn the pitching win, and went 4-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI for the Rockets.

Dalton Post, Carter Luepke, Wes Nieman and Jackson Manicke all had two hits for Spencer, which finished with 14 overall.

Columbus Catholic (6-2, 0-1 Cloverbelt East) had its six-game winning streak snapped. Carter Sommer had two of the Dons’ four hits and drove in a run.

The two teams will meet again Tuesday at Spencer High School beginning at 5 p,m.
