MARSHFIELD – Columbus Catholic put up 10 runs over the first two innings and cruised to a 17-10 win over Neillsville/Granton in the Cloverbelt Conference East Division softball opener for both teams on Monday at the Marshfield Fairgrounds.
The Dons finished with 12 hits, and took advantage of 11 walks and seven Neillsville/Granton errors to roll to the victory.
Shelby Spata smacked her fifth home run of the season and scored five times to lead the way for the Dons (4-1 overall).
Akosua Yeboah had three hits and five RBI, and also picked up the pitching win for Columbus Catholic.
Sydney Subke drove in four runs for the Warriors (1-4).
Columbus Catholic will have the rest of the week off and will play at Pittsville next Monday, April 21, at 4:30 p.m.
