AUBURNDALE – The Auburndale baseball team rolled to victory in its home and Marawood Conference South Division opener on Monday, defeating Wisconsin Rapids Assumption 13-3 at Auburndale High School.
After the Royals (2-4 overall) scored in the opening inning, Auburndale plated three in both the second and third frames to start the rout, which ended in the sixth via the 10-run rule.
Nathan Richardson picked up the pitching win for the Eagles (2-0 overall), striking out nine over four innings.
Ayden Raab had three hits, and Colton Brandl and Asa Soppe each had two hits for Auburndale, which finished with 12 overall. Julian Anderson had three RBI and Soppe scored three times in the win.
The two teams will play again Tuesday at Witter Field in Wisconsin Rapids beginning at 4:45 p.m.
