Stratford softball slugs past Newman Catholic

WAUSAU – Stratford pounded out 18 hits and routed Wausau Newman Catholic for the second day in a row, winning 21-6 in Marawood Conference South Division softball action Tuesday at Sunnyvale Park.

The Tigers scored five times in each of the first two innings and put up 10 more in the fifth to finish off the victory via the 10-run rule.

Tria Tubbs picked up the pitching win and also went 4-for-4 at the plate with four RBI for Stratford (5-3, 2-0 Marawood South).

Alyssa Bargender added a double, a home run and four RBI, and Emma Roeper and Dakota Knetter each had two hits and three runs batted in for Stratford.

Stratford will host Crandon for a nonconference game at Hilgemann Field on Thursday at 4:45 p.m.
