SPENCER – Marshfield Columbus Catholic batted around in the first two innings, plating nine runs on its way to an 18-4 victory over previously undefeated Spencer in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division baseball game Tuesday at Spencer High School.

The Dons pounded out 15 hits as they scored in each of their five at-bats, winning by the 10-run rule after five innings.

Mac Konieczny went the distance on the mound for Columbus Catholic (7-2, 1-1 Cloverbelt East), striking out six and walking five. He also went 3-for-4 at the plate with three runs batted in.

Devlin Timmler went 4-for-4 with a pair of RBI, and Ryan Bernick knocked in three as well for the Dons.

Spencer, which had won its first five games of the season, including an 8-2 victory over Columbus on Monday, was held to five hits and scored all four of its runs in the second inning.

Spencer will host Auburndale for a nonconference game on Thursday, while Columbus Catholic will be off until Monday when it travels to Loyal.
