WESTON – D.C. Everest scored four times in the bottom of the fifth inning to break a tie game and defeat Marshfield 8-4 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference baseball game Thursday at D.C. Everest High School.
Each team held two-run leads before Marshfield tied the game at 4-4 with a pair of runs in the top of the fifth on a sacrifice fly by Tyler Kremer and a wild pitcher allowed Easton Ledden to score.
D.C. Everest immediately retaliated, scoring four times in the bottom of the frame as a pair of errors helped fuel the inning and gave the Evergreens (4-3, 2-0 WVC) a two-game sweep of the season series against Marshfield (2-5, 0-2 WVC).
Carter Miller earned the pitching win for D.C. Everest with six innings on the mound.
Cole VanSlyke had two hits and drove in three to lead the Evergreens’ offense.
Owen Greisbach and Dayton Bugar each had two hits, and Tyler Kremer and Mason Anderson had doubles and an RBI for the Tigers.
Marshfield will play a nonconference game at Menomonie on Monday.
