WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Allison Podjaski knocked in the winning run with a two-out single in the bottom of the 10th inning to lift Marathon to a 4-3 win over Stratford in a Marawood Conference South Division softball game Monday at Lincoln High School.
The Tigers tied the game at 3-3 with a run in the top of the seventh inning as Mykayla Stueber, who had singled to lead off the inning, scored on an error.
The tie score held until the 10th when Marathon (4-1, 2-1 Marawood South) pushed the winning run across against Stratford pitcher Laney Pankaratz, who finished with 12 strikeouts and four walks in 9 2/3 innings in the circle.
Pankratz, Stueber, Gracie Schmidt and Gracie Krummel each had two hits for Stratford (6-4, 2-1 Marawood South).
The two teams will play again Tuesday at Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln High School beginning at 6 p.m.
