SPENCER – A late rally fell short for the Spencer baseball team as it dropped its third game in a row, falling 6-3 to Gilman in Cloverbelt Conference East Division action Tuesday at Spencer High School.

Gilman scored five times in the opening inning and led 6-0 before Spencer scored twice in the sixth and added another in the seventh.

Carter Luepke drove in a run with a single to cut the Rockets’ deficit to 6-3, Drake Johnson followed with a walk and Madden Prybylski singled to load the bases with no outs, but Gilman pitcher Dawson Robinson wiggled out of the jam with a pair of strikeouts.

Prybylski, Jackson Manicke and Zack Roehrborn each had two hits for Spencer (5-3, 2-2 Cloverbelt East).

Max Pockat had three hits for Gilman (6-2, 2-0 Cloverbelt East).

The two teams will play again Thursday at Gilman.
