MARATHON – Drew Gage tossed a complete-game two-hit shutout as the Stratford baseball team eked out a 1-0 win over Marathon in a Marawood Conference South Division game Thursday at Marathon High School.

Gage struck out seven, did not walk a batter and gave up just two singles in the seven-inning effort for Stratford, which is now 7-1 overall and 4-0 in the Marawood South.

Stratford scratched out the game’s only run in the third inning when Riley Spindler knocked in Jack Tubbs with a single. Tubbs had two of the Tigers’ five hits.

Stratford will play a nonconference game at Abbotsford/Colby on Friday.
