Marshfield girls soccer earns shutout win at Wisconsin Rapids

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Marshfield girls soccer team evened its Wisconsin Valley Conference record at 1-1 with a 2-0 shutout of Wisconsin Rapids on Thursday night at Lincoln High School.

Claire Laone scored in the first half and Lauryn Katzenberger added an insurance goal in the second half for the Tigers, who are now 3-4-2 overall after winning their second game in a row.

Shiloh Smith and Katzenberger controlled the field for the Tigers, coach Kelly Ongna said, playing pivotal roles in the victory.

Wisconsin Rapids falls to 3-5 overall and 1-1 in the WVC.

Marshfield hosts New Richmond on Monday at 6:30 p.m. at Heiting Community Stadium.
