JANESVILLE – Paige Albrecht scored 28 points and added five assists and seven steals, but the University of Wisconsin-Marshfield/Wood County lost a high-scoring game to UW-Rock County 92-89 on Saturday.
The Marauders trailed 13-2 early before cutting the deficit to 42-38 at halftime. However, Marshfield couldn’t make up the deficit in the second half.
Marissa Draxler added 19 points, Ashley Pongratz had 18 points and 13 rebounds, and Bailey Klieforth had 15 points and 13 rebounds for UW-Marshfield, which falls to 6-11 overall and 6-7 in the Wisconsin Collegiate Conference.
“We played better defense in the second half and shot 49 percent from the field (45 percent 3-pointers) for the game, but once again we were plagued by turnovers and the slow start didn’t help matters,” Marshfield coach Lori Galetka said. “We had our chances going down the stretch to take the game but things just didn’t pan out for us.”
The Marauders host UW-Fox Valley on Wednesday.
