MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield girls basketball team saw its nine-game winning streak snapped Saturday as it dropped a 63-62 decision in overtime to Waunakee in a nonconference game at the Marshfield High School Fieldhouse.
Marshfield’s Leah Ripp made a long shot from the corner with 20 seconds left in regulation to force overtime.
Taylor Varsho, who finished with a game-high 32 points, made two free throws with 9 seconds left in overtime to give the Tigers (13-3) a 62-61 lead. However, Waunakee (9-7) grabbed a loose ball and scored at the buzzer to pull out the win.
Varsho was 17 of 25 from the free-throw line for Marshfield, and also added 10 rebounds, four steals and three assists. Eleni Seitz added 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Tigers.
Jaci Vanden Brook had 20 points and six rebounds for Waunakee.
Marshfield hosts Lakeland in another nonconference game on Monday night.
