WISCONSIN RAPIDS – After a sluggish first quarter, the Auburndale girls basketball team kicked it into gear.
The Apaches outscored Wisconsin Rapids Assumption 23-12 in the second half to pull out a 38-27 win a in Marawood Conference South Division game Tuesday night at Auburndale High School.
The Apaches won for the sixth straight time to improve to 15-2 overall and 9-1 in the Marawood South. They remain one game in back of first-place Wausau Newman Catholic (17-0, 10-0), setting up a showdown for the conference title on Friday at Newman. Assumption falls to 8-8 and 5-5 in conference.
Liz Breu scored 15 points and had five rebounds for Auburndale, which only had five players score in the game. Lindsay Gotz hit a pair of 3-pointers and finished with eight points for the Apaches.
