LOYAL – Steven Gilboy nearly beat Loyal all by himself.
Gilboy scored 25 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the Spencer boys basketball team to a 49-30 win over Loyal in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division game Tuesday night at Loyal High School.
Gilboy was 10 of 16 from the field and hit 2 of 3 from 3-point range in his best offensive performance of the season.
Spencer outscored Loyal 30-11 over the middle two quarters to take control.
Wyatt Phillips added eight points and Sam Cattanach had eight rebounds for the Rockets, who improve to 9-9 and 8-7 in the Cloverbelt East. Loyal falls to 5-13, 5-11 in the conference.
Spencer outrebounded Loyal 42-18 and held the Greyhounds to 29 percent shooting (12 of 41).
Max Luchterhand led Loyal with 10 points.
