Spencer girls basketball team blows past Colby

COLBY – Kyleigh Hebert scored 20 points and Courtney Schulz and Krystal Weier each added 13 to lead the Spencer girls basketball team to a 65-35 rout of Colby in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division game Tuesday night at Colby High School.

The Rockets wasted no time getting things rolling, outscoring Colby 19-9 in the first quarter and cruising out to a 39-15 lead by halftime. Spencer led 58-20 after three quarters.

Spencer shot a sizzling 24 of 42 from the field and improve to 15-3 overall and 10-3 in the Cloverbelt East. Coupled with Owen-Withee’s loss to Greenwood, the Rockets have moved into sole possession of second place in the conference, one-half game ahead of the Blackhawks, whom they host on Thursday.

Colby falls to 11-7 and 9-4 in the conference.

Tara Matter had a team-high 12 rebounds for the Rockets.
