WAUKESHA – The University of Wisconsin-Marshfield/Wood County women’s basketball team’s season came to an end Wednesday with an 84-68 loss to UW-Waukesha in the Wisconsin Collegiate Conference regionals.
Paige Albrecht scored 19 points and had four steals for the Marauders, who end the year with a 7-15 record. Waukesha moves on to the WCC State Touranment, which it hosts this weekend.
Janice Reeves had 13 points and 16 rebounds, Ashley Pongratz added 13 points and eight rebounds, and Marissa Draxler scored 12 points for Marshfield.
Marshfield trailed by only four at halftime at 41-37, but the Marauders couldn’t close the gap.
“Too many turnovers, not being patient on offense and not playing tough on defense told the story tonight,” Marauders coach Lori Galetka said. “Not to take anything away from Waukesha – they have a quick, athletic team that took care of us twice earlier in the season. We didn’t play our best tonight.”
