STRATFORD – The Auburndale girls basketball team methodically took apart Stratford, beating the tigers 45-25 in a Marawood Conference South Division game Thursday night at Stratford High School.
Liz Breu scored 13 points and Kelly Tomfohrde added 12 points and six assists for the Apaches, who wrap up their Marawood South season with a 12-2 record and improve to 18-3 overall.
Auburndale will play Athens in a Marawood Conference Crossover second-place game at Abbotsford on Thursday, March 3 at 5:45 p.m.
The Apaches led 14-8 after the first quarter and 26-14 at halftime, then continued to pour it on in the second half, outscoring Stratford 19-11.
Hannah Schmitt had 13 points and six rebounds to lead the Tigers (9-12, 4-10 Marawood South), who will play in a Marawood Crossover sixth-place game at Abbotsford on Monday.
Brackets for the WIAA playoffs, which being March 8, will be announced Sunday.
