Columbus Catholic girls basketball team stymied by Greenwood

GREENWOOD – Greenwood outscored Marshfield Columbus Catholic 21-10 in the second half to beat the Dons 33-15 in a low-scoring Cloverbelt Conference East Division girls basketball game on Thursday night at Greenwood High School.

The Indians (13-6, 10-4 Cloverbelt East) led 12-5 at halftime, holding the Dons (5-13, 4-11 Cloverbelt East) to just two baskets. Greenwood blew the game open by dominating the second half and allowing just three more field goals by Columbus.

Abby Gotz had seven points to lead Columbus.

Greenwood, which hosts Colby on Friday, was led by Taylan Johnson, who had 11 points.

The Dons return to action Monday when they host Loyal in their Cloverbelt East finale at 7:30 p.m.
