SPENCER – The Spencer softball team rapped out 21 hits in its season debut and went on to a 17-2 win over Augusta on Tuesday at Spencer ARC Park.
Krystal Weier was 4-for-4 with four runs scored, Courtney Schulz, Nicole Bruss and Erika Taylor each added three hits and the Rockets took advantage of seven Augusta errors in the rout.
Paige Johnson added two hits and four RBIs, and Danica Johnson and Jenna Hagen also had two hits each for Spencer.
Bruss earned the win, allowing nine walks and three hits in seven innings, while striking out 10.
