Marshfield fifth in second leg of Wisconsin Valley Conference boys golf tournament

WAUSAU – Michael Josephson fired an 83 to place tied for ninth and help the Marshfield boys golf team to a fifth-place finish at Leg No. 2 of the Wisconsin Valley Conference Tournament on Tuesday at Wausau Country Club.

Josephson helped the Tigers to a team score of 357, seven shots behind Wausau West for fourth and two shots ahead of sixth-place D.C. Everest.

Marshfield remains in sixth place after the first two legs of the seven-event tournament, which continues Friday at Greenwood Hills Country Club in Wausau.

Stevens Point, which won the first leg last week in Wisconsin Rapids, tied Wisconsin Rapids on Tuesday with a team score of 316 to remain in first place in the overall standings. Wausau West was third with a 329.

Matt Sandquist of Wausau West and Aaron Bravick of Wisconsin Rapids shared medalist honors with 73s, two shots ahead of Stevens Point’s Trevor Thomas.

Evan Schneider had an 89, Josh Berres shot a 92 and Ian Pillai had a 93 to round out Marshfield’s scoring.
