STRATFORD – Sam Frombach was 3-for-4 with a double and five RBIs, leading the Stratford softball team to a dominating 10-0 win over Pittsville on Tuesday.
Combined with an Edgar loss, Stratford’s victory gives it sole possession of first place in the Marawood South. The Tigers improve to 6-2 overall and 5-1 in the South. Pittsville falls to 3-4 and 3-2 in the conference.
Stratford led 1-0 before blowing the game open with a five-run third inning. Frombach had a two-run single, Jenessa Denfeld scored on a bunt by Jordyn VanDerLeest and Macy Busche drove in a run with a single in the big inning.
The Tigers finished off the game with a four-run sixth, ending the game due to the 10-run rule. Stratford scored all four runs after two outs. Haley Austin had a two-run single and Frombach had a two-RBI double to end it.
Hilary Belter tossed the shutout for Stratford, striking out two and walking one while scattering six hits.
Rachel Ludwig, Sara Griesbach and Austin added two hits each for the Tigers, who play at Wausau Newman Catholic on Thursday and host Wisconsin Rapids Assumption on Friday.
