WAUSAU – Stratford scored a pair of runs in the first inning and pitcher Hilary Belter made it hold up as the Tigers softball team beat Wausau Newman Catholic 4-1 in a Marawood Conference South Division game on Thursday.
Jenessa Denfeld went 3-for-3 with a double, a triple, an RBI and a run scored to lead Stratford’s offense. Rachel Ludwig added two hits and a pair of runs.
Belter allowed just three hits while striking out six and walking one in the complete-game win for the Tigers (7-2, 6-1 Marawood South).
Newman falls to 5-3, 4-3 in the Marawood South.
Stratford hosts Wisconsin Rapids Assumption on Friday.
