SPENCER – Nicole Bruss went 3-for-3 with three RBIs and tossed a five-inning, complete-game two-hitter to lead the Spencer softball team to a 10-0 win over Colby in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division game Friday at ARC Park.
Spencer scored at least one run in all five innings to win for the sixth straight time and improve to 7-1 overall and in the Cloverbelt East. Colby falls to 3-5 overall and in conference.
With the win, and a 5-3 loss by Greenwood to Loyal, the Rockets take over first place in the conference standings, one-half game ahead of Greenwood.
Five other Rockets had one hit, with Danica Johnson scoring twice and Alyssa Brostowitz scored two runs and driving in two more. Krystal Weier had three walks, a double and scored three times.
Spencer plays at Colby on Monday and hosts Neillsville on Tuesday.
